Horry County Registration and Elections reminds
registered voters that the election date for the Republican Presidential
Preference Primary Election is Saturday, February 20, and the Democrat
Presidential Preference Primary Election is Saturday, February 27. To
view the list of candidates for these elections, visit
http://www.scvotes.org/.
Voters
may participate in only ONE presidential primary. The deadline to
register to vote and be eligible to vote in the Republican Presidential
Preference Primary is January 20, 2016, and the deadline to register to
vote for the Democrat Presidential Preference Primary is January 27,
2016. The last day to vote absentee for the Republican Presidential
Preference Primary Election is February 19, 2016, and the last day to
vote absentee for the Democrat Presidential Preference Primary Election
is February, 26, 2016.
The
polling place locations for some precincts may be combined with others
for the primaries as allowed by law. Polls
will open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and registered voters waiting in line
at 7 p.m. will still be allowed to vote. The primaries will be held
under the rules for providing Photo ID at the polling place. Voters will
be asked to provide one of the following Photo IDs at their polling
place:
- SC Driver’s License
- ID Card issued by SC Department of Motor Vehicles
- SC Voter Registration Card with photo
- Federal Military ID
- US Passport
Curbside
voting is also available for any voter, because of a physical handicap
or aged 65 or older who cannot enter the polling place may vote outside
of the polling place in their car.
Voters are also encouraged to check their voter registration information prior to Election Day.
If
your voter registration information has changed (name, address, etc.),
and you still live within the same county, you may go to http://www.scvotes.org/ and update your information.
Unofficial results from Horry County and for all counties in South Carolina, will be posted on
http://www.scvotes.org/. The polls will close at 7 p.m. and the results will then be tallied.
