The 19^th annual Myrtle Beach Marathon weekend is March 3-5, 2016 (note the new date).  This event is family friendly and features activities for runners of all skills levels with a choice of five events:  the full marathon, a team relay, a family fun run, a neon night 5K, and a half marathon.

One of the biggest reasons for hosting this annual race is to build off-season tourism.  With thousands of racers and families traveling to the Grand Strand from out-of-town, the Myrtle Beach Marathon has an economic impact of approximately $8 million.

December 6 is the Registration Deadline for the December 11 North Myrtle Beach Shop with a Cop Charity Golf Tournament on the Norman course at Barefoot Resort & Golf

The registration deadline for the 5^th Annual North Myrtle Beach Shop with a Cop Charity Golf Tournament is December 6. The charitable golf tournament will be held December 11 on the Norman course at Barefoot Resort & Golf.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to the North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department’s Shop with a Cop program. Shop with a Cop is a Christmas program for children in need at North Myrtle Beach Primary, Elementary, and Intermediate Schools. Guidance Counselors at each school choose children to receive the benefits of this program. The children enjoy lunch and are each given a $100 Wal-Mart gift card. North Myrtle Beach police officers and volunteers help guide children on purchasing presents and necessity items, such as winter coats. The 2015 tournament goal is to raise enough money to provide an unforgettable Christmas for 100 children.

Registration forms are available at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center and Barefoot Resort & Golf. Registration for the tournament ends December 6.

Tournament fees are $60 per person. Players may register individually or as a team. The tournament fee includes green fees, cart, range balls, non-alcoholic beverages, breakfast and lunch.
