NMB Aquatic & Fitness Center Offers Holiday Fun for Kids Ages 5-12 During “Parents Night Out” on December 11, 6:00-9:00p.m.

The North Myrtle Beach Aquatic & Fitness Center (AFC), 1100 Second Avenue South, offers holiday fun for kids during Parents Night Out on December 11, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Parents may bring their children ages 5-12 to the AFC, where they will enjoy a night of swimming, games, a pizza dinner, and more. Children must bring their own bathing suits, towels and sneakers.

The cost for Parents Night Out is $10 per child for AFC members and $15 per child for nonmembers.

Registration closes December 9.

Retired NMB Public Safety Officer Lt. Guy Johnson named Grand Marshal for the December 5 North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade

Retired North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Officer Lt. Guy Johnson has been selected as Grand Marshal for the December 5 North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade.

Originally from Burlington, NC, Johnson began his career with the City of North Myrtle Beach in 1977 as a an ocean lifeguard.  In 1981 he joined the North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department and continued his service with the City until May 2015 when he retired.  Lt. Johnson has two children, Mathew and Stewart.  Mathew is a United States Marine currently stationed at Camp Lejeune, and Stewart resides in North Myrtle Beach and is a student at Horry-Georgetown Technical College. 

The North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015, 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Main Street. It is free and open to the public.

NMB CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD DECEMBER 2, 10:00 A.M. WORKSHOP TO REVIEW WRITTEN OBJECTIONS TO CHERRY GROVE DREDGING PROJECT ASSESSMENTS THAT WERE FILED WITH THE CITY BY THE DEADLINE OF JULY 1, 2015 -- (Executive Session to Follow)

The North Myrtle Beach City Council will meet with city staff and consultants in a December 2, 10:00 a.m., City Hall workshop to review written objections to assessments that were filed with the City by the deadline of July 1, 2015 by property owners located within the Cherry Grove Dredging Project assessment district.

Also on December 2, immediately following the 10:00 a.m. workshop, City Council will hold an executive session to discuss potential litigation that may result from the assessment district regarding the Cherry Grove Dredging Project.

The  workshop is open to the public but it is not a public hearing. Executive sessions are not open to the public.

City Council will not vote on the written assessment objections at the workshop. If after the workshop City Council feels comfortable in moving forward to rule on the assessment objections, it will do so during the regularly scheduled December 7 City Council meeting.
